He taught the students, supervised them and guided them as they discovered who they had been as witches and wizards. It isn't a simple factor to do, especially when The Chosen One is in your presence. He needed to place all his focus onto Harry Potter and ensure he was making out alright and never getting attacked daily, but he also had a complete school of students to fret about. That's in all probability why his nuggets of knowledge came in so handy. All the things that Dumbledore mentioned can take on a special that means depending on where you're at, and the place Harry was at, at any given level within the books. He all the time tried to impart his knowledge on Harry and everybody else, understanding he wouldn't be around endlessly to keep those messages going.
